GhostCall rings your phone with fake calls and messages so you can leave a conversation politely. It is built so that what you create in it stays on your phone.
What stays on your phone
Your Ghosts (names, labels, photos, voice clips, caller videos), Escapes, scheduled calls, call history, imported contacts, safety recordings and settings are stored only on your device. GhostCall has no account and no server that receives them. Deleting the app, or Settings › Clear all data, removes them.
Imported contacts: only the name and photo are copied, and only for the contacts you pick.
Permissions, and why
| Permission | Used for |
|---|---|
| Notifications | Delivering delayed fake calls and messages. |
| Photos / camera | Giving a Ghost a picture; the camera also shows your self view in fake video calls. Nothing is recorded or uploaded. |
| Contacts | Importing a contact's name and photo as a Ghost, and choosing a trusted contact. |
| Microphone | Recording a Ghost's voice clip, and safety-call recordings if you turn them on. |
| Location (while using) | Safety calls only: your location is put in a text to your trusted contact, which you send yourself. |
| Tracking (iOS, optional) | More relevant ads on the free plan. Saying no is fine. |
Services we use
| Service | What it receives | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics (Google) | App interactions, crash reports, device information, an app-instance ID | Understanding usage and fixing crashes. Turn off in Settings › Privacy › Share anonymous analytics. |
| Appodeal and its ad networks (free plan only) | Advertising ID (with your permission on iOS), approximate location from your IP address, ad interactions | Showing ads. GhostCall Pro has no ads. |
| RevenueCat | Purchase history and an anonymous app user ID | Processing GhostCall Pro and pack purchases with the App Store and Google Play. |
None of these receive your Ghosts, contacts, photos, recordings or call history.
Backups
If you make a backup (GhostCall Pro), GhostCall writes a file and hands it to your phone's share sheet. Where you save it (for example iCloud Drive or Google Drive) is your choice, and that provider's privacy policy applies.
Children
GhostCall is not directed to children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information.
Your choices
- Turn analytics and crash reports off in Settings › Privacy.
- Deny or revoke any permission in your phone's settings; GhostCall keeps working without the features that need it.
- Delete everything with Settings › Data › Clear all data, or by deleting the app.
